Health Level Seven International wants more providers involved in the process of creating electronic health records standards. To that end, the organization, which focuses on interoperability standards for healthcare IT, this week unveiled a pilot membership program for clinicians, as well as an accompanying web page.
“Physicians, nurses, pharmacists and others in the healthcare continuum … are best suited to provide input about the usability, interface design and workflow demands of electronic health records,” HL7 CEO Charles Jaffe, M.D., said in a statement. HL7, he added, now is more poised to help those professionals translate their expertise into “tangible improvements” for interactions with EHRs.
