It’s not uncommon to run across stories about how doctors are using mobile technology—smartphones,EMRs,mobile apps, iPads and more. But you don’t see much in the mainstream news about nurses and mobile health.
The results of a recent survey show that the docs aren’t the only ones caring for patients using smartphones. Mobihealthnews.com reports Wolters Kluwer Health’s Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) checked with almost 4,000 nurses and nursing students and found 71 percent of nurses using their smartphones in their jobs and 66 percent of students using them in nursing school.
Of those surveyed, 85 percent said they’d like smart phone apps of LWW’s Nursing 2013 Drug Handbook and 87 percent said they’d like a smartphone app version of the text in addition to the print version.
The mobile app handbook comes out this month for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
